Testing Thursday…..Quite Literally

In April of this year, I did a very open blog post about my health entitled ‘Elephant in the Room’…..

Here is the link for anyone who wants to read it again (or for the first time)!

Towards the end of that post, I made reference to the fact that I would be having another MRI scan in September to determine whether or not the needle I’ve been sticking into my leg for the past two years and nine months is actually working or not. If the medication isn’t working, I will need to look at an alternative treatment. But…. We’ll cross that bridge if we come to it.

The MRI scan is today.

3:00pm. Beaumont Hospital. Which means probably around 4:30pm.

The MRI scan results will be available in a few weeks when I meet with my MS team. The MRI will show white spots on my brain and spine (I already have a number of these). However, the doctors will be looking for new white spots and if none have appeared on my brain or spine since my last scan in January – that’s GOOD news. I feel good so I’m hoping that’s the case!

I absolutely hate the MRI scanner. My head is strapped into a contraption so that I don’t move and what is actually only around 30 minutes feels like 4 hours but it has to be done and that’s just that.

I’ll try and get a sneaky picture of my wonderful headgear or perhaps the ever-flattering hospital gown for you all. If there was ever a good time to subscribe to this blog…… Now is not it 😉

Wish me luck!

Be The Reason…..

Say thank you….and really mean it.

Hold a door open for someone.

Pay a compliment.

Send a good morning text to someone.

Hold the lift for the person who is just about to miss it.

Smile at a stranger.

Buy a coffee for the next person in line at the coffee shop.

Apologise for something if you need to.

Leave someone a little random note to brighten up their day – leave it in their coat pocket, their wallet or under the duvet so they will see it tonight before they go to sleep, etc.

Send someone a thank you card or email.

Ask someone how they are – not because that’s what you normally do! Ask them because you genuinely want to know how they are and then listen to their response.

Give someone a call that you haven’t spoken with in ages.

Buy someone lunch.

Be silly – crack a joke! Or at least attempt one!

Send a photo to someone knowing that it will make them smile.

Buy someone a treat and leave it on their desk/pillow/somewhere they will see it …. !! as a little surprise.

Make someone a cup of tea.

Send a text to your friends wishing them a wonderful Thursday.

Just do something to make at least ONE person smile today…..Because whatever you do, I guarantee you will end up smiling too.

Have a wonderful Thursday!

Thursday Thought…….

How to be a Better (Happier & Healthier) Human Being:

“Never touch anything with half of your heart.

Be present, endlessly loving and compassionate towards others.

Confront any challenging situation first with a deep breath.

Remember that your own happiness and comfort comes above all things.

Before reacting – understand.

Eat breakfast every morning.

Find the faces in the flowers.

Remember what is important to you.

Treat your body kindly.

Be honest.

Get to know yourself.

Take things at your own pace.

Don’t feel embarrassed to feel, laugh, cry, sing or love.

Remember that what’s right for someone else may not be what is right for you (and that’s okay).

Never be ashamed or afraid to ask for help.

Do what you love.

Remember that you always have a choice.

Find joy in what life really is – living.”
